AAC Devices
      #378 - 02/21/07 08:40 PM

Hello everyone

I am new here and am here for several reasons. First, I am a graduate student and am currently taking a class on children with disabilities. As part of the class, I have decided to do some research on AAC devices. The reason I have specifically chosen this site is because I have a 19 year old low functioning nephew who has autism. He does not communicate in any really productive way. I would really appreciate it if some of you could/would share any experiences you have had with AAC devices (keep in mind I know NOTHING about any of them) and also if you have any suggestions that the family could try with my nephew. I do know that he used to use something my sister-in-law calls a 'facilitator.' Sorry. Thanks for any information you are willing to share with me.

Stephanie
