I'm not sure why they do it. My son is almost 4 and a half, and he does it also. It's almost like he's remembering something hysterical, like a great joke. I used to think it was cute, but it gets old real fast, especially at night. On the bright side, he is doing it less than he used to. I'm hoping that eventually, he will stop completely. Good luck!!
