Indiana

We are thinking about moving over to Indiana because we have heard good things concerning the state and autism services. They also have autism indiana but I haven't looked into it completely. Can someone offer me some information? Thanks!

Re: Indiana

The principal and/or assistant principal presides over in the Case Conference Meeting (the IEP meeting). This is not a good thing especially if the principal does not have any knowledge at all in what is taking place inside the classroom. In IN, the child with autism must not have any behavioral problems or else, he will be contained in the autism cluster or be confined in a room alone with the teacher and aide or aide only. The parents must keep on pushing for what is appropriate for their child with autism. This is what we experienced back in IN.

Re: Indiana

I was hoping to get some information but I haven't heard back from anyone. We did end up making the move to Indiana but have not enrolled in the school yet. I did get a bit more information on my own that I just wanted to share in case someone had the same questions as me. I gathered that Little Star Center is a facility where children with autism receive therapeutic intervention. I also found that parents, therapists, and families could find support and receive training. That really peaked my interest. I would love to have some training. I think that would make all the difference. Once again if anyone has anymore information they can share with me regarding autism lafayette then it would help me make some final decisions. Thanks again.

Re: Indiana

We are in Indianapolis. It largely depends on the school system for decent public services. My son attend a great ABA school (http://www.appliedbehaviorcenter.org/) which, so far our insurance covers. There are a lot of kids on the spectrum in Indiana, which means a lot of support groups (http://www.nobleofindiana.org/).

That said, the pollution in this state is horrendous. Also it is a very backward state politically. We are looking at Oregon in the next three years, if we can see that it can be a good option for ASD families.
