I'm new from North Carolina

My name is Mary and I have a son who is 3 (almost 4) and we are suspecting he has one of the autism spectrum disorders. The last few months and even years have been really rough for us as well as him. We're trying to get a diagnosis. I called his pediatrician to get a referral yesterday, but didn't get a call back with an appointment. Needless to say, they're getting a call back on Monday morning. This is really hard for me!! My heart breaks when I see what he's going through. He is making progress since I've been working with him day in and day out, but it's still very difficult. Any tips??

Mary
I have been a teacher of autistic children for the past 6 years. I have mostly worked with middle school aged students in a self contained classroom. One of the biggest challenges I have to work with is children that don't know their letters or numbers. I have always believed that this is a very important concept that would allow my students to do much better in many areas of their lives. I have struggled for yeatrs adapting special ed and regular ed materials in order to teach my students. I decided to write my own workbooks for letters and also numbers. I really believe that these workbooks can make a difference in the lives of many children with Autism. Please check out my website and read about the workbooks. Feel free to cntact me through the site if I can answer any questions for you. Thanks
