Any info on services in Georgia? We are currently in FL and considering moving....FL is NOT a good state for its size and population. McKay Scholarship is about all you can really hope for. Hopefully GA is better. Thanks.

Looking to relocate! Help! LEAVING MISSISSIPPI ASA [Re: junyto38]
      #6852 - 09/07/11 08:07 PM

Hi! My sweet baby bot,Cade regressed overnight around December. He was always ahead of his peers in speech and dev.skills for 24mths and overnight took a turn for the worst. It was as if we fell asleep one night and woke up the next morning with an infant..a totally different child. Now at 2 1/2 yrs of age his only words are dada and bye(and he is on a 5mth old level once again).
WE have "two insurances" (BSBS ofTX and MS)but for some unknown reason my child still HAS NOT been officially diagnosed with by the state of MISSISSIPPI!?For 6 months now I have patiently waited and even called afew times only to be told "We're sorry. We will have someone from our office to your home very soon".:(
Well,He is indeed autistic(Ive had my baby seen by others and he is in fact mild autistic),YET being that "MS" hasn't diagnosed him themselves he is only offered 30mins of speech A WEEK and 30mins of OT per wk. (A total of an hour therapy per week:(grrr. Also, there are no ABA therapist within an hr and a half from where we live. I would drive that far everyday to see one, but they (Early intervention)will not permit nor pay for it.And my insurance companies will not pay for aba, autistic school etc.?! They will only pay 50% of 52 speech or ot visits PER YEAR (after my 25.00 co-pay each visit and we pay the remainder ofcourse). Upset with MS and early intervention..my husband and i have decided to move to a state that have a private or public preschool offering small classes with cert.ABA teachers. I know its going to be expensive but we are willing to try anything and everything to give our lil guy a chance(especially during these first few crucial years of his life). Do you know of any schools we would be interested in anywhere within the US? We would perfer to be closer to family in MS,but are willing to relocate anywhere.
I know we will have to pay out of pocket because the schools Ive called are either private or based on income(and we don't qualify).
My husband works offshore and supports he,myself and our three children on his income alone. We have medical bills coming out of our ears due to my daughter being diagnosed with Acute lymphoblastic Leukemia in 03' and my heart/blood disorder as well..so we really cant afford it but we will dang sure try! Also, I was told by SSI that my baby "does not" qualify for SSI based on my husband making over 100,000 a year before taxes?! I was dumbfounded because of all the people who really don't need SSI,but get it and other government assistance as well.
Are there any grants etc for school, therapy and sensory equipment that my child would qualify for that we don't have to be poverty level to qualify for?Thank you all in advance! GOD BLESS
